    Fair Trade Organic Cotton Clothes

Conventional farming of cotton plants uses more chemicals per acre than any other crop. Tones of chemicals waste off the fields into the water table we all share.

 Are you Aware ?

==> The WHO estimates that as many as 20,000 deaths and 3 million chronic health problems are caused by poisoning related to agricultural pesticides globally each year. A further 2,00,000 farmers commit suicide as a result of debt caused by pesticide purchase.

==> In India, it’s as much as 50 percent of pesticides used on as little as 5 percent of the total agricultural land.

Living soil is the basis of the organic farm, free of toxic chemicals for at least three years and enriched by compost and other organic matter. The concept is simple, Vigorous plants resist insects, weeds and diseases better than those under stress due to repeated chemical applications. By working with nature to create a diverse farm ecosystem, you produce optimal growing conditions.

The field is a bug eat bug world, in which a “ natural enemy complex “ of predator and parasite insects keep pests in check. Pest infestations are seen as messengers of fields out of balance, rather than signals for chemical spray programs, the organic world view requires more “ eyes to the acre “, walking fields to catch potential problems early, sometimes substituting hand labor for chemical-oriented solutions. Because the majority of the agricultural industry equates organic methods with assured losses in yields, an assumption, which is untrue, the most difficult task these farmers face is not in growing, but in finding financing or direct markets for their crops. The conventional field is a sterile environment, in which microbial, plant and insect diversity is selectively eliminated for the purpose of growing just one plant.

Much of the present conventional farm practice is done in the name of economy and efficiency. And in the competitive world marketplace, there is the continual pressure to produce more for less money. The market, the university system, and agricultural – business are driven by the paradigm that chemicals are necessary for successful farming.

All farmers want to produce the highest yield and best quality while talking care of the land. Assisi garments are supported by a group of 300 farmers of Maharastra. The farmers are supported to cultivate organic cotton in an area of 2000 acres of land. Advance payments are provided to the farmers in regard with their certificates under the process of verifying them. Every garment should be beautiful, when we tale all necessary pains to make a product right, it usually does come out beautifully. We design products that embody these qualities.
